A sparring partner in Winterthur and the towns around it. From outside.
I’m Winn Chelini, an independent confidant and sparring partner for personal and business questions – in Winterthur, Seuzach, Wiesendangen and Effretikon. Someone from outside your circle, not a therapist: at your home, at your office, on a walk on the Eschenberg or online, in English or German.
Winterthur and around
A big town where people still know each other.
Winterthur is big enough to shop anonymously and small enough that you keep running into the same people at the club, at school and at work. If you want to talk something personal through here, you think hard about who with.
That goes for families who have lived here for generations and for people who carry responsibility at a clinic, the university or an insurer. It goes for couples after many years together, for sons and daughters whose parents are getting older – and for families whose company grew out of Winterthur’s industry, where the business and the family are hard to tell apart.
Situations that are typical here
Gone quiet
Thirty years married, and it isn’t bad – just quiet. You want to work out for yourself what is missing before you raise it at home.
Our marriage isn’t bad, just quiet. Can I think it through on my own first?
Your parents are getting older
Who looks after them, who decides, what happens to the house? Between siblings that is rarely just a practical question – and you want to sort it out once before the family sits down together.
Career set aside, children gone
For years it was clear what your days were for. Now it has gone quiet, and the question of what is yours now can’t be answered over dinner.
A lot of responsibility, little room
At the clinic, the university or the insurer you carry responsibility for others. Whether to step back earlier is not something you want to talk through with colleagues.
Stepping down earlier than planned: is it time, or are you just tired?
Your parents’ company
A family business that grew out of Winterthur’s industry, in the family for decades. Everyone assumes you will take over. Whether you want to, you haven’t told anyone.
You could take over the family business. You do not want to.
Handing over – but how?
You built the company or carried it on, and the succession is a family question: son, daughter, son-in-law or someone from outside. You want to think it through before you say it out loud.
From outside
Based in the Zürich Oberland. Not part of your world in Winterthur.
I live and work in Wetzikon, about 30 minutes from Winterthur. Close enough to be with you quickly – far enough away not to turn up in your club, your company or your circle of friends.
I have no mandate, no commission and no stake in what you decide. You don’t have to wonder whom I’ll be talking to next week, or whose side I’m on. And you don’t have to prove anything to me. That makes it easier to say the things you would normally keep to yourself.
You already have experts. What I offer is an independent view from outside – and where you need a specialist, I’ll tell you so and point you to the right person.

What discretion means in practice
- I don’t record our conversations.
- I keep only brief notes and destroy them no later than 12 months after we finish.
- I report to no one – not to your family, your business partners or your employer.
- Even the fact that we know each other stays between us.
- Invoices show the format and the date, never your topic – and can be made out to your company.
Confidential – agreed in writing, with its limits stated openly.
Where we meet
On the Eschenberg, up the Goldenberg or at your home.
An open conversation needs a place where no one is listening in. I come to wherever that is for you – in Winterthur and the towns around it.
On-site sparring
At your home
In town, in Seuzach, Wiesendangen or Effretikon: at home nobody overhears and you don’t have to go anywhere. Often the calmest place to talk openly.
At your office
In the evening once it is quiet, or during the day on a Monday. Whether you tell anyone who I am is entirely up to you.
A quiet place you choose
Away from the office and away from home. You suggest the place; I’ll be there.
Walk & talk
Many people think more clearly on their feet – side by side rather than face to face. Here are three suggestions. Or show me a route of your own.
On the Eschenberg
Woodland paths on the southern edge of town, past the Bruderhaus. A few minutes in, the city feels far away.
Up the Goldenberg
From the edge of town up the hill, looking out over Winterthur. Short enough for an hour, quiet enough for a serious subject.
Along the Töss
Flat, by the water and away from the roads. Good when a conversation needs time to get going.
Remote sparring
By video or phone
Between two appointments, for a follow-up, or when the evening is short. The same approach, the same confidentiality.
Practical
Travel, areas and languages.
Travel from Wetzikon
Travel included
Winterthur is about 30 minutes away. Travel is included – in town and in all the surrounding municipalities, as everywhere within 60 minutes’ drive of Wetzikon.
I plan for rush-hour traffic, so you don’t have to. Places further away by arrangement; I’ll tell you the travel cost in advance.

Questions
Winterthur and around: short answers.
I am thinking about separating. Who do I think it through with before I see a lawyer?
With someone who knows neither of you and does not push a direction – staying or leaving. Before a lawyer, family or friends take sides, we work out what you yourself see and want: what is over, and what is not? What does it mean for the children, the house, for you? I talk only with you; if your partner also wants a counterpart, I name a different professional. Marital property, maintenance and custody belong with your lawyer, and sparring is not couples therapy.
Our parents are getting older, and things are getting difficult between us siblings. Who do I talk to?
With someone who has no role in your family. Who takes care of them, who decides what happens to the family home, who is already getting more – these questions come while the parents are still alive, and they reopen old roles between siblings. In the conversation we work out what you yourself want and what you will say to your siblings, before it turns into a dispute. I talk only with you, not with the whole family. Care arrangements, powers of attorney and inheritance law stay with the specialist services and your lawyer.
My spouse and I run the company together. Who do I talk to when business and marriage get tangled?
With someone who belongs to neither of you. When the company has a say at the kitchen table and the marriage at the office, you lose sight of both: what is a business dispute, what is a personal one – and what do you yourself want? Sparring is a conversation between two people: I talk with one of you; if your spouse also wants a counterpart, I name a different professional. For joint conversations, mediation or couples counselling fit better.
Why someone from Wetzikon rather than someone in Winterthur?
Because I’m not part of your circle. I’m not in the same club, I don’t know your colleagues, and we’re unlikely to run into each other in the Old Town. That makes it easier to speak openly about people anyone in Winterthur would recognise. And I’m still close by: about 30 minutes to Winterthur.
The confidential conversation. No obligation.
20 minutes by phone or video, in English or German. You don’t need to prepare or explain anything. Afterwards you will know whether my way of working suits you. I read every enquiry myself – from the first contact to the last conversation, you deal with the same person.
