Independent sparring for personal and business questions · Zürich · Gold Coast · Zug
For the things you can’t talk about with just anyone.
It takes a counterpart with nothing to gain – a sparring partner who listens, asks questions and disagrees when it matters. You don’t have to know what you need before we talk.
For people after an inheritance, a bereavement or the sale of a business, facing a succession, a career move nobody may know about yet or a dispute with a co-owner, in a marriage under strain, or new to Switzerland.

Why it matters
You have specialists for the company, the taxes and the money. Who do you talk to about everything else?
Family has history. Advisers have a mandate. Your people have careers. Friends have feelings.
I have no stake in what you decide. That is the whole point of sparring: a discreet, independent conversation in which you can think freely and speak openly – about something personal, a difficult relationship, the company or a decision you are facing. Sometimes it helps just to say something out loud for the first time.
A conversation like this does the most good before a question turns into a dispute – or a case for the lawyers. Nothing needs to have happened.
I don’t have every answer. But I tell you where your reasoning doesn’t add up for me. The decision is yours.

What it’s about
What brings people here
Rarely one question. Rarely only business.
- “I have doubts about my marriage – but our families and our finances are intertwined.”
- “I inherited what my father built. Everyone knows what I should do with it. Except me.”
- “We’ve settled everything – the will, the powers of attorney, the succession. What we never settled is how we talk to each other.”
- “My daughter would be the better successor. Everyone expects my son.”
- “Everyone assumes I’ll take over. I never said yes.”
- “Since the handover, nobody calls on a Monday.”
- “I gave up my career when we moved here. I’m told how lucky I am. Most days I’d agree.”
- “Since my husband died, everyone knows what I should sign.”
- “I don’t need to work any more. I still can’t stop.”
- “There’s an offer on the table. Nobody in my industry can know.”
- “At over seventy my father is rearranging everything. I can’t tell whether I’m worried or afraid.”
- “I’m surrounded by people – and have no one I can say this to.”
Your question isn’t here? It doesn’t need to be.
“I don’t tell you what you want to hear. I tell you what I see.”
How it works
One conversation, four steps
No programme, no method you would have to learn. Just a clear, calm conversation – 60 minutes, in person, on a walk or online; 90 minutes on request.
Listen
You tell me what is on your mind, in your own words. No preparation needed.
Ask
I ask where things get unclear, test assumptions and name what is missing.
Mirror
I reflect back what strikes me – including the uncomfortable parts.
Next step
At the end we pin down what has become clearer and what your next step might be. Sometimes, deliberately, there isn’t one yet. The step is yours.
What you can expect
Four things you can count on
Quick understanding
I take in what it’s about – without you having to explain everything three times.
More than one angle
I test the same question from several sides: facts, interests, people.
Honest feedback
I say what I actually think. Respectfully, directly and without flattery.
Independence & discretion
No mandate, no commission, no stake in what you decide. We agree confidentiality in writing; where it has limits, I tell you so beforehand.
Sparring is not psychotherapy, not medical advice, not management consulting and not legal, tax or financial advice. Nor is it a motivational programme. I don’t replace your specialists: where expertise is needed, I say so and point you to the right person.
Formats
You choose the place. I come to you.
At your home, at your office, on a walk or online. Per session – no subscription, no package.
The fee is fixed and depends on the format and the length of the conversation, never on who you are. I tell you what it is in the confidential conversation – before the first session, not after. If you would like to know it beforehand, I will also tell you by e-mail or phone, without you having to book a call.

Questions
What you may want to know
What can I talk about in a sparring session?
Anything on your mind where you lack an honest, independent outside view – personal and business alike. Typical topics: tension in the family, doubts about a marriage, an inheritance, adult children and money; the fresh start after retirement, a separation or a sale; settling into a new country; selling, keeping or handing over the company; a business partner or key employee who has let you down; a promotion, a change of role, a difficult board. You set the topic and how deep we go. Legal, tax, financial and medical questions belong with specialists – I will name the right one.
Who is sparring for?
For people with something to sort out that they can’t discuss with just anyone – in the family, in a marriage, after an inheritance, in their own company or after selling it. Many own a business; many don’t. All of them need the same thing: an independent, discreet counterpart who sells nothing and is not part of the family. Whether it is personal or business matters little; often it is both. You can also come with a question that has no name yet – it is best sorted out before it turns into a dispute. The only requirement is that you can, and want to, decide for yourself.
Is sparring for personal questions too?
Yes. The conversation is the same as for a business question – two people, confidential, no programme. Many people come with something that concerns only them or their family. You will find examples under What people bring; the note When you need a therapist, and when a sparring partner is enough explains where sparring ends and therapy begins.
I just need to talk something through – is that reason enough?
Yes. You don’t have to know what you need before we talk. Sometimes there is no decision, just something you cannot say to anyone around you – because everyone is involved, or because there is no one. Then I listen, ask where it helps, and keep my opinion to myself until you want to hear it. Often the question only becomes visible in the telling. What sparring is not: psychotherapy. If you are in acute distress, call the Dargebotene Hand helpline on 143 (English line 0800 143 000, 6–11 pm); in an emergency call 144. For everything else, it starts with a confidential conversation.
How confidential is it?
I commit in writing to confidentiality – including the fact that we know each other, and beyond the end of our work. That applies towards all third parties: family, business partners, employers – including the person who referred you. If I already talk with someone from your family, your company or the other side, I decline, without naming anyone. I record nothing, keep brief notes and destroy them no later than 12 months after we finish. There are three limits: a legally binding order from a court or authority, an acute danger to life or safety, and a threat to a child’s welfare. Even then, I speak to you first wherever possible.
Is this psychotherapy?
No. Sparring is for people who are fundamentally healthy and able to act, and who want an honest outside view. It is not psychotherapy or medical counselling and does not replace either. I do not diagnose and I do not treat. In Switzerland, psychotherapy is a regulated health service provided by licensed professionals; sparring is a conversation between two adults about a decision or a conflict. If it becomes clear that you need a specialist, I will tell you openly and help you find the right one.
The confidential conversation. No obligation.
Twenty minutes by phone or video. You don’t need to prepare or explain anything. Afterwards you will know whether my way of working suits you. I read every enquiry myself – from the first contact to the last conversation, you deal with the same person.
